Kellye Kathyrn Betancourt

I was born in Washington DC in 1961. I have lived in the District and its suburbs for 41 of my 46 years.

I did the usual and required schooling: some college and some university. I failed sometimes and did well others, but mostly I worked. I worked in book stores (love books and reading) and as a waitress (I was horrible). For 20 years I worked as a paralegal. I sat at the side of those who had lost someone they loved (for the most part) and reduced their loved ones’s existence to dollars and cents and, in turn, reduced my life to billable hours of 6 minute increments.

Then in 2003 my life changed radically. I am now living my dream. I am painting full time and I don’t wear a watch. I am with my best friend, the man I love and have loved for 27 years, my husband, Lou. In the last 4 years we have lived and moved and changed our lives more than most people do in several life times. We have lived in many places (aka moved a lot), changed careers, and lost our dogs, who were our children. We are trying to find a sense of balance, time together to chat over coffee, hike, play golf, enjoy our careers, be part of a community, but mostly be together. Even though the moving and changing is hard, I would not change a second of it because we are in this adventure together, and what a ride it is.

Peace

Kellye
